Studio Sprout as part of the design team for Spodak Dental Group was recognized with the most outstanding new construction healthcare award by the United States Green Building Council.
The project includes a planted bioswale that filters rain water, a native gardens that support wildlife, an edible garden and a tropical garden. Water consumption is reduced by the use of cisterns and appropriate plant selections. The landscape interacts with the building interior, providing views of nature from patient rooms and workspaces. Views of nature are a positive distraction found to reduce stress and improve health outcomes in a large body of peer reviewed research.
