Westward Elementary is an International Baccalaureate Magnet School in the center of West Palm Beach. The school is adjacent to a linear park/storm water retention system, also designed by SPROUT Roy-Fisher Associates. As part of the City of West Palm Beach park project, a wetland was created adjacent to the school as a Biopond Classroom. The wetland has flourished and is now home to many species of plants and animals including a great blue heron.
SPROUT Roy-Fisher Associated also designed the landscape for the recent complete renovation of the Westward Elementary Campus. The landscape incorporates a large variety of trees as a learning opportunity. This tree canopy also provides shade to playgrounds and outdoor areas. Storm water retention areas are planted with native plants to cleanse runoff, shade parked cars and provide an attractive setting.
